Rounding finds the nearest multiple of the requested place value. Compare the distance to the lower and upper multiples.

A worked example

To round 347 to the nearest hundred, compare 300 and 400. It is 47 from 300 and 53 from 400, so it rounds to 300.

Keep in mind while you play

For nonnegative whole numbers exactly halfway between two multiples, use the usual round-up rule.
