Learn the math: Divide Up to Four Digits by One Digit
Long division shares each place value, starting with the greatest. A leftover in one place is regrouped into ten units of the next smaller place.
A worked example
For 156 ÷ 4, regroup the leading hundred with the tens to make 15 tens. Share 3 tens each, carry 3 tens into 36 ones, then share 9 ones each: 39.
Keep in mind while you play
Keep quotient digits in the correct places, including zero when a place contributes none.
