Learn the math: Find and Make Change Within One Dollar

Change is the difference between the amount paid and the price. The returned coins must total that difference.

A worked example

If a toy costs 65 cents and you pay 100 cents, the change is 35 cents, which can be a quarter and a dime.

Keep in mind while you play

First find the change, then choose coins; the coins are not meant to match the toy's price.
